Since he began playing jazz at the age of nineteen, Chris Dempsey has transformed into an award winning jazz trombonist whose experience extends from coast to coast and abroad, having performed extensively throughout the United States and Europe. Chris has worked with over 50 world-renowned musicians and groups including The Temptations, Pat Monahan of "Train," Frankie Avalon, Fabian, Bobby Rydell, the Artie Shaw Orchestra, and the Gene Krupa Orchestra. As both a soloist and bandleader, Chris has won numerous awards including the National Jazz Trombone Soloist Competition, the National Jazz Trombone Ensemble Competition, and the International Trombone Association's Kai Winding Competition. Chris has also appeared in JazzIz Magazine, Downbeat Magazine, and the International Trombone Association Journal, among others.

Having recorded with the jazz trombone group "Against the Grain," in 2005, Chris went on to also record with the Artie Shaw Orchestra on "Stardust and Beyond: A Tribute to Artie Shaw." More recently, Chris released his own album entitled "Onward," a new album featuring original compositions by Chris and the members of his New York Jazz Quartet.

Chris is a graduate of both the Berklee College of Music, where he attended on full scholarship, and of the Manhattan School of Music, where he received his Master's Degree while on full scholarship. He has studied under the tutelage of Steve Turre, Phil Wilson, Joe Lovano, Dave Liebman, Hal Crook, and many others.
