Since he began playing jazz at the age of nineteen, Chris Dempsey has transformed into an award winning jazz trombonist and has been hailed by Phil Wilson as "one of the best jazz trombonists you'll probably ever hear." His performance experience extends from coast to coast and abroad, having performed extensively throughout the United States and parts of Europe.

Chris has performed with over 50 world renowned musicians including Denis DiBlasio, Bob Mintzer, and Slide Hampton. He has also performed with the Gene Krupa Orchestra, Dave Stevens Big Band, the Ryles Jazz Orchestra, and the Buffalo Big Band. Thanks to a recommendation from the great jazz trumpeter, Herb Pomeroy, Chris has also toured with the Artie Shaw Orchestra and recently recorded on the album, "Stardust and Beyond: A Tribute to Artie Shaw."

As both a soloist and bandleader, Chris has won numerous awards including the National Jazz Trombone Soloist Competition, the National Jazz Trombone Ensemble Competition, Berklee's Slide Hampton Award in recognition of outstanding performance abilities, and the International Trombone Association's Kai Winding Competition. He has also placed twice in the International Trombone Association's J.J. Johnson Competition and was the only trombonist in 2005 and 2006 to have received an Outstanding Performance Award in Downbeat Magazine's Best College Jazz Instrumentalist category. Chris has also appeared in JazzIz Magazine, Downbeat Magazine, and the ITA Journal.

Chris is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music, where he attended on full scholarship, and is currently a full scholarship master's candidate at the Manhattan School of Music. He has studied under the tutelage of Steve Turre, Phil Wilson, Joe Lovano, Herb Pomeroy, and others.
